ORAL HIGIENIST

 

REMUNERATION

  • Grade 1: R397,233 annually
  • Grade 2: R463,941 annually
  • Grade 3: R543,099 annually

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Educational Requirement:

  • A suitable qualification that permits registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Oral Hygienist.
     

Professional Registration:

  • Must be registered with the HPCSA in the field of Oral Hygiene.
     

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 1:
    • No experience necessary for candidates registered with the HPCSA (South African trained).
    • Foreign-trained applicants (who are not required to complete Community Service in South Africa) must have at least 1 year of relevant experience post-registration with a recognized foreign health authority.
       
  • Grade 2:
    • SA-trained professionals: Minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration.
    • Foreign-trained professionals: At least 11 years of relevant experience after registration with a recognized foreign regulatory body.
       
  • Grade 3:
    • SA-trained professionals: At least 20 years’ experience post-registration.
    • Foreign-trained professionals: A minimum of 21 years of relevant post-registration experience.
       

Other Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Code B/EB driver’s license and be willing to travel as part of the job.
     

Core Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Capable of managing a high workload and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Upholds professional standards and ethics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
     

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver direct oral health services.
  • Promote oral hygiene and disease prevention through community education.
  • Perform general administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to and uphold quality clinical standards.
